Turmeric Oats

That Autumn morning chill is coming back which calls for warmer meals. I have been reading a lot recently on Ayurvedic medicine and their principles where they speak a lot about eating in alignment with the weather e.g. eating more grounding , warming foods as it becomes colder. So perhaps try swapping your smoothie bowl for some warm oats or warming your chia pudding. See how it makes you feel- perhaps more energy or less anxious ? I am constantly trying to become more intuitive with my eating so I am interested to see how I feel if I try and tune in more and eat according to the climate. Try this warm and nourishing anti inflammatory turmeric porridge next time you want a warm brekkie

Turmeric Oats

Ingredients

1/2 cup oats ( can also use chia )

1/2 cup water

1/2 cup milk ( I love coconut, almond or hemp)

1 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp vanilla

1 tsp turmeric

1 tsp maca powder ( optional, great for hormones and caramel flavour )

Toppings: frozen berries, nut butter, cacao nibs, pepitas

Method

  1. Heat a medium saucepan with your oats, milk, water, cinnamon, turmeric and vanilla

  2. Stir gently and allow to warm and slowly thicken and combine. Make sure you are on a medium heat as a high heat will dry it out easily

  3. Top with your superfood goodies of choice and enjoy!
