Getting into my car and seeing it is 9 degrees in the morning is not ideal. Those colder mornings make it harder to get out of bed and all you want is to drag your blankets around you out the door. Try warming yourself from inside out with these delicious oats. With a careful balance of ingredients, the combination of flax, chia, hemp and oats provides slow releasing energy and a great high fibre meal to kickstart your digestion for the day. Adding turmeric is also not essential but adds beautiful flavour and anti inflammatory properties.

Ingredients

1/2 cup oats

1 tbsp flaxseeds

1 tbsp chia seeds

1 tbsp hemp seeds

1 tbsp coconut butter (optional but SO yummy and creamy if you have)

1/2 water

1/2 milk of choice ( I like hemp/coconut/almond)

pinch sea salt

1 tsp honey or sweetener of choice

1 tsp turmeric / cacao/ chilli spice of choice

Toppings of choice eg apple, nut butter, granola, coconut, cacao nibs

Method

  1. In a medium sauce pan place all ingredients into pot and continue to stir every 30 seconds

  2. Keep it on a low to medium heat. Once the liquid has been absorbed and everything is well combined scoop out into a bowl

  3. Place your favourite toppings of choice and enjoy each warm , yummy mouthful
